Little Bella Bee
Little Bella Bee loved to fly through the fields, dancing from flower to flower, collecting sweet nectar and pollen under the golden sun. But one day, something felt different. The fields weren’t bursting with colour like they used to. The flowers were fewer, the air quieter, and the hive wasn’t humming with honey like before.
As Bella Bee searched for flowers, she began to notice how hard life had become—the flowers were disappearing and not only that but her bee friends too and with them, the chance to make honey and help plants grow.
Join Bella Bee on a heartfelt journey as she discovers why flowers matter, how pollination works, and what we can all do to help the bees bring the buzz back to the world.
This book has great learning resources, activity sheets and autumn craft ideas to explore the topic further.
Environmental Education

-
Biodiversity: It highlights the importance of various plants and pollinators for a healthy ecosystem.
-
Conservation: The bee’s proactive actions can promote discussions on how individuals (even kids!) can help the environment.

- Urban gardening & wildflowers: May inspire young readers to grow bee-friendly plants like dandelions or other wildflowers.
Literacy and Critical Thinking
- Vocabulary building: Words like “pollination,” “nectar,” “pollen,” and “ecosystem” expand understanding.
- Cause and effect: The story structure reinforces logical connections between actions and outcomes.

Biology & Natural Sciences
- Pollination: The story can explain how bees transfer pollen between flowers, helping plants, trees, fruit and vegetables reproduce.
- Plant life cycles: Dandelion seed dispersal introduces the concept of plant reproduction and growth.
- Ecosystem interdependence: Demonstrates how bees, plants, and other organisms rely on each other.
Emotional & Social Learning (SEL)
